Everything Fine

Just Keep Sipping

This fall, the two of us have seen one another and connected often because we’ve had some of the same social and professional commitments, which is always fun! We’ve been able to spend time together at birthday celebrations, while also co-facilitating workshops on professional development. These experiences truly demonstrate the breadth of our friendship. It has become clear to us just how great it is to have friends that you can grow, learn, build and dream with. Often, people will put you in boxes or cultivate their own ideas of success for you, but it is imperative to keep dreaming and keep those who believe in you close by.

As we head into the last few months of the year, it’s important to think about who and what takes up your time. As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, this year reminded us that life can be hectic, upsetting and joyous all at once, so it’s critical to constantly evaluate if the connections we have with others are of substance. We have 2 months until 2020; let’s not waste any more time on people and spaces that do not add value to our lives. Here are some reminders that the two of us keep coming back to. We hope they will help you too!

  • Surround yourself with people who inspire and support you.
  • Never limit your dreams because others don’t see the value in them.
  • It’s important to have fun, but also keep planning for your future.
  • Time waits for no one.
  • Your plan only works if you do.
  • When in doubt, don’t worry. Just keep sipping!

Our featured cocktail for this month is a Caipirinha, Brazil’s national cocktail, which we enjoyed at Chima for a birthday party. This delicious cocktail is made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. We also enjoyed a version that included pineapple!

2 tsp superfine sugar (or 1 oz simple syrup)

1⁄2  Lime (cut into wedges)

1 1⁄2 oz Leblon cachaça

Garnish: Lime wedge

Glass: Rocks

Muddle the lime and sugar in a shaker, add the cachaça and ice, and shake well.

Pour into a rocks glass.

Garnish with a lime wedge.
